Yes, it is truly magic.
On the right you can see the pile of gear for an extended trip, including the all-important checklist. On the left is a fully packed 40 litre Deuter backpack. All of the one fits into the other.
The flight is a few hours away, the bags are packed, Hey Paisan sandwiches have been wolfed and we have tried to make ourselves as presentable as possible for the customs folks.
Next is the fun part: Nine hours in the air to Heathrow, possibly the worst airport on the planet, then nine hours in the air to Bangelore, India (if you phone a tech line and get a nice person with an Indian accent, chances are they are in Bangelore).
From Bangelore we jump straightaway onto the little plane for Kochin in Central Kerala. To find Kerala, look at a map of India, go to the far Southern tip and split it in half. The Western half of the tip, west of the Western Ghat, make up the three parts of Kerela.
The Genetic Envelope and I will be working our way North through the Ghat and along the sea until it is finally time to head back to Bangelore. But that is for another blog.
Today's entry is for my dear friend Boomer. Yes, oh Doubtful One, it is possible to live indefinitely out of a 40 litre backpack. Stay tuned and we will prove it is so.
Ciao for now!!
